Quiz #5 (on content from Lesson 5)

In this lesson, we discussed the estimation terms on the How Many? vocabulary sheet. Once students were comfortable with the concepts, we looked at flash cards and discussed how many shapes (triangles, circles, etc.) were shown on each card. A typical exchange:

T: How many circles are on this card?
S: Six.
T: What is another way to say that?
S: There are several circles.
T: Are there more than or less than ten circles shown?
S: There are less than ten circles.

Next, we went over Dialog #2. Two students read it. Then I read it to the class and explained it. Then two more students read it to the class.

Finally, we discussed Nouns and Verbs. We looked at some of the sentences in Dialog #2 and identified the nouns and verbs in the sentences. We discussed subject and object of the verb, and the fact that all sentences must have a verb and a subject.

We read through three Bible stories (copied from a toddlers' Bible): God Made Adam and Eve, Noah Builds a Big Boat, and God Sends a Great Flood. We identified the verb, the subject, and the object of the verb in select sentences from each story.
