Content of Lesson 1

We started out with "greetings":

Hello, my name is <blank>.
Nice to meet you.
What is your name?

Next we moved into "time":

What time is it?

fifteen

It is three o'clock in the afternoon.

Then more greetings:

Good morning.
Good afternoon.
Good evening.
How are you?
I am fine, thank you.
I am good.
I am very good.
I do not feel well. (I am sick.)
I am happy.
I am sad. (I am not happy.)

Next was weather:

How is the weather?
It is sunny.
It is cloudy.
It is rainy. (It is raining.)
It is snowy. (It is snowing.)
It is windy.

Then we did temperature:

What is the temperature?
It is hot.
It is cold.
It is mild. (It is comfortable.)
It is cool.
It is warm.
It is freezing.
It is below freezing.
It is twenty degrees Celsius.

We did a brief discussion on the importance of stating "Celsius" since Americans tend to use Fahrenheit. Some people understood this; others didn't. That's okay.

Lastly, we reviewed all the material and threw in "like it/don't like it" where appropriate:

30 deg C ... What is the temperature? Is it hot or cold? Do you like it?
<Draw a cloud> ... How is the weather? Do you like it?
